I really like free socks and tiny movies. . .
Luckily for me, I had access to both of these for 16 wonderful hours aboard South African Airways flight 208. I landed safely in Johannesburgh, South Africa yesterday evening and have been having a good time reuniting with my teammates today. Tomorrow, we will have the opportunity to reconnect with some of our much loved friends in Atteridgeville before taking our 7 hour trek to the lovely Kingdom of Swaziland on Friday.
As I think and pray about how I will spend the majority of my time over the next 4 months, I am still uncertain (perhaps this is because I am in my 20's, and "uncertain" seems to be a common word for people my age). ;) My current plans, however, are to connect with a woman who is beginning a ministry focusing on high school girls and young Swazi women. I am looking foward to having the opportunity to mentor, serve, and love these beautiful people. I am also making plans to continue ministry in the Manzini hospital as well as at the one and only "University of Swaziland."
As fate would have it, I lost my toothbrush in the brush. I must have dropped it on my way to the "bathroom" late last night. The search continues... but never fear, I just tapped into my "uh oh, my brush is in the brush" reserve.
Please pray for my time here that I will follow in the footsteps of Christ, bringing hope and love to all the people I meet. Pray that I will be diligent in my study of the language (It's called Siswati). Pray for our vehicles, as they never see to be working - they are old and the roads are often rough. Pray for health and safety for me and my team. Pray for our leader, Kate Howry, as she paves the way for our ministries and takes care of all the logistics. Pray for the team previously known as the "Kenya team" who will now be spending their time working with us in Swaziland due to the unrest in Nairobi and Kibera. Pray for the Swazi people that they will experience physical, emotional, relational, and spiritual healing.
Thank you for your love and prayers... I'll be passing them along on this side of the equator.
With love,
Katie Movic
